Dear
Friends,
You and your fellow artists are invited to enter your art
works in this year’s
Aurora
Colony Day Art Show and Sale
to be held
August 13th
and 14th, 2011.
This show coincides with Aurora Colony Day weekend, so we receive a good
deal of exposure and many visitors throughout the weekend. All artists,
professional and nonprofessional, and all media are welcome. Judges
will award prizes according to category of media and status of artist
(professional or non-professional). You may enter as many pieces of
your original art as you wish. In addition to a small admission fee
charged per artwork, there is a commission fee of 25% for any works sold
during the show.
There will be an artists’
reception on Friday evening, August 12th, from 6-8pm. This is a very
well attended event and features a lovely buffet dinner courtesy of art
patron Roberta Hutton, and a complimentary wine bar provided by Aurora
Arts Association. Many art pieces are traditionally sold during this
fun evening. See the registration sheet for more details or rules
regarding the show.
With a minimum paid entry
of one piece of original art, you are encouraged to make prints or cards
of your works available for sale. Please provide your own display
vehicle (basket, stand, etc.) as we will not have such resources
available for you. Be sure to label each piece with a price, your
initials, and an inventory number, and please create your own inventory
list in duplicate, prior to intake.
Our featured artist this year is
Bonnie
Cosgrove of Vancouver.
Bonnie has been interested in art since early childhood. She was drawn
to watercolor and design in college, where the challenge of the medium
quickly became an addiction. Her desire for accuracy of subject
depiction and a growing interest in wildlife art and botanical art, in
particular, led her to complete the University of Washington’s
Scientific Illustration Certification program. Presently Bonnie is a
member of the Society of Botanical Artists, the Guild of Natural Science
Illustrators, and an associate member of SW Washington Watercolor
Society.
As
a botanical artist, Bonnie’s goal is to present an accurate
representation of the subject, blended with an awareness of appealing
composition and meticulous technical skill. All this while heeding the
expectations of the contemporary art world. Bonnie’s art has won many
awards and is in several private collections.
Please let
us know soon that you will be in the show so that we may reserve a spot
for your work and your prints! You may contact the Aurora Arts
Association through Larry Townsend at (503) 678-2888. You may also send
