Dear Friends –
You are invited to take part in the 3nd Annual Watercolor Plein Air Painting Event on Saturday August 12 during the Aurora Colony Days celebration.
This is a 2-track event. You may choose only one – not both.
Track 1 — This track is free and open to all watercolorists. You are encouraged to paint anywhere in the “downtown” historical/retail section of Aurora. This is the location of the Colony Days race/walk, parade, street fair and beer garden; our numerous other visual attractions include historic buildings, gardens and festive crowd scenes. If you have registered your participation, you can display your work (from Saturday only! no previously painted work) at the Black Star Watercolor gallery on Main Street starting at 1 PM. You retain 100% of any sales you make.
Track 2 — We are also holding an optional competition for the Museum Curator’s Choice prize. To be eligible for this track and the $100 prize, you must pay an entry fee in advance. All paintings for the competition must be completed on site on Saturday August 12 at the Old Aurora Colony Museum complex at Liberty and 2nd Streets. Judging will take place at 12 noon, and the prize awarded immediately thereafter. The other paintings can then be included in the display at Black Star Watercolor.
Full details on the Plein Air Event and Competition are on the Rules and the Entry Form on our website (www.auroraarts.auroracolony.com). Copies of all documents can be downloaded and printed. Please read the rules carefully.
On the website, you will also find information on our 30th Annual Art Show and Sale, taking place on August 11-12-13. You are encouraged to enter that event, too.
