Art Show & Sale Information

March 15, 2008

    Dear Friends,

You and your fellow artists are invited to enter your art works in this year’s Aurora Colony Day Art Show and Sale to be held August 9th and 10th, 2008.  This show coincides with Aurora Colony Day weekend, so we receive a good deal of exposure and many visitors throughout the weekend.  All artists, professional and nonprofessional, and all media are welcome.  You may enter as many pieces of your original art as you wish.  There will be a Best of Show Prize of $100 in addition to many smaller awards in various categories.  In addition to a small admission fee, charged per artwork, there is a commission fee of 25% for any works sold during the show.

We are very lucky to have Dyanne Locati, a Portland area artist of national renown, as this year’s featured artist.  She works in mixed media to create her stunning  works of art.   She is the former owner of the Locati Creative Art Center, teaches a variety of art classes and workshops, and she juries colored pencil and mixed media art shows locally and nationally.  In addition, she has served as the President of the Watercolor Society of Oregon, Colored Pencil Society of America, served on the national board of the CPSA as Executive Vice President and Director of International Exhibitions.  She also has been the Director of a downtown Portland Art Gallery, and managed to find time to form the Downtown Art Gallery Association, serving as its Vice President.  She has been published in and on the cover of twelve fine art books in the United States, England and France.

There will be an artists’ reception on Friday evening, August 8th, from 6-8pm.  This is a very well attended event and features a lovely buffet dinner courtesy of Roberta Hutton, and a no host wine bar provided by St. Joseph’s Winery.  Many art pieces are traditionally sold during this fun evening.  See the registration sheet for more details or rules regarding the show.

With a minimum paid entry of one piece of original art, you are encouraged to make prints or cards of your works available for sale.  Please provide your own display vehicle (basket, stand, etc.) as we will not have such resources available for you.  Be sure to label each piece with a price, your initials, and an inventory number, and please create your own inventory list prior to intake.

Please let us know soon that you will be in the show so that we may reserve a spot for your work and your prints!  You may contact the Aurora Arts Association through Kristine McNamara at (503) 678-7796.  You may also e-mail quercusv8@yahoo.com.  For more information or an extra entry form, be sure to visit our web site at http://auroraarts.auroracolony.comEntry forms are also available at Time After Time and Cornerstone Gallery in Aurora.

                                                            Sincerely,

The Aurora Arts Association
